Sometimes selecting a place to move, deciding what to take, finding a mover, packing, moving, unpacking and getting rid of the leftovers can seem overwhelming. We can help you work through this difficult task and make this a smooth transition into a new stage of your life.

We will obtain a floor plan of your new residence, measure the space and create a layout of the furniture and belongings you would like to take.
Our goal is a safe and comfortable environment that reflects your new lifestyle.
Pack, unpack, resettle
We professionally pack all of your belongings.
We unpack and put away, resettle and recreate the look and feel of your former home.
When we are done, your bed is made, your kitchen is set up, your pictures are hung (if you wish) and every box and piece of packing paper is removed from the premises.
We will pack up items for donation and coordinate their pick up by local charities of your choice.
We will provide you with a detailed list of what is donated for your tax records.
Organize, sort AND
Organizing and de-cluttering in advance of a move is the single most important thing you can do to save money and reduce stress.
We guide you through the downsizing process, separating items going with you to your new home, and items you wish to sell, donate or discard.
Organizing before listing your home sets the stage for a quick and profitable sale. We provide advice, structure, and hands-on help to get the job done.
Sell your leftover belongings
We can guide you in selling your leftover items, helping you find the best means of dispersing those things you no longer want.
Or we can conduct an estate/liquidation sale on your behalf to get you the maximum amount of money possible.
We can arrange for the disposal of any items left in your home and broom sweep the residence for turnover to the new owners.
We can also arrange for a thorough house cleaning of both your new and/or former residence.
Arrange and coordinate movers and shipping
We have relationships with movers who have demonstrated exceptional care and customer service, time and time again.
We confirm the date, time, crew-size, interim stops, loading dock and elevator availability and all move day details.
As important, we look at the big-picture issues and discuss how to create the best move experience for you.
We work with our shipping vendors to identify the most efficient way to ship items you want to family members across the miles or abroad.
We will arrange to have any of your confidential documents shredded.
Owner Susan Thomas and her
team can help you through the difficult process of moving and downsizing. Susan is a member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) and trained by Smooth Transitions® founder Barbara Morris, who is one of the founding members of NASMM. Susan has a degree in interior design and a master’s in theatre. She had a long career as an arts administrator, working in nonprofit arts and teaching arts management at Miami University in Ohio and at Florida State University. After leaving academia, Susan worked for an estate sale company in Florida before returning to Lexington to open Smooth Transitions®.
